M1 TRUCK LANE RESTRICTIONS August 02 2017
1 August 2017 marks the day truck lane restrictions begun on the Pacific Motorway (M1) between Springwood (Exit 20) and Robina (Exit 82 Southbound and Exit 79 Northbound).
Over 152,000 vehicles travel on this stretch of highway daily, including over 12,000 heavy vehicles. Considering the heavy traffic conditions, changes have been made that will hopefully ease congestion, particularly in the event of traffic incidents.
Those affected are; Trucks with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) over 4.5t.
Those affected will be; restricted to travelling in the left 2 lanes in both directions between Springwood and Robina.
Truckies breaching the ban will cop a $121 fine and lose three demerit points under the new law.
